Plans for the development of an ecotourism village have been set for the Way Kambas National Park.
The plans are in motion to serve as a second tourist destination (Way Kambas National Park being the first) in East Lampung Regency, a regency of Lampung, Sumatra, Indonesia. This will give tourists and ecotourists alike more eco-travel options in the East Lampung region.
Lampung Sukatmoko, PR Coordinator for the Way Kambas National Park, announced last week that the Great Hall of the Way Kambas National Park has made plans for the design and development of an eco-village for the purpose of bringing more tourists to the Way Kambas National Park. The eco-village will accommodate both residents and tourists. This will allow tourists to get a true local experience by spending time in the national park and enjoying local food and crafts.
Plans for an eco-village in Way Kambas National Park are further proof of Indonesia’s dedication to ecotourism. Other villages, such as Labuhan Ratu IX, are also being molded into eco-villages. The Great Hall of the Way Kambas National Park will work with local NGOs to support the development of an ecotourism village and to help train locals.
There is much for travelers to do in the Way Kambas National Park, including but not limited to guided tours, nature watching (thousands of species of flora and fauna as well as endangered wildlife), trekking, and more. Ecotourism is being implemented throughout Indonesia to help protect its rainforests and to provide additional sources of income for its local communities.
